My current main camera for taking pictures is the Nikon D200, which is the replacement to the D100. Cindy got me this camera in Dec 2006, the month that it was released. Since I got it, I have been shooting with just this camera body. I could go on and on about the changes that they made between the D100 and the D200, but that would be a waste of time because there are many great sites that already do that. In the end, the important features include the 10MPixel sensor and the greatly improved autofocus. The weight of the D200 is greater than the D100, but i really do not notice until I pick up my old camera for something. I am not going to be getting rid of my old camera, it is always great to be able to have a backup to your primary camera. Also, as things continue to grow, I am sure that there will be many times that both Cindy and I will want to be taking pictures at the same time.

The first object needed for taking pictures is the camera. Now there is a constant debate over Digital versus film based cameras. For me, I decided to go digital because I am learning and thus I am taking a lot of pictures. After having my camera for 5 months, I took an average of about 25 pictures a day. Sure most of those were done in 100 or 200 sets, but that is still a lot of film, just imagine the developing costs. Now being the way that I am, I did not want just a simple camera, I wanted one that I could really experiment with and learn with, that is why I started look at the Digital Single Lens Reflex (Digital SLRs). After looking around, I knew this would be the best choice for me. As for why I chose Nikon over Cannon, it was purely based on what was in stock at the store when I got it, they only have Nikon at the time. I picked the Nikon D100 and I have been very pleased with my results.

I am happy, because I have brought my wife, Cindy, into the fold of buying camera stuff with me. This weekend we bought a film body, mainly for her to use, but we both will be using both camera bodies since all the lenses are interchangeable. Anyway's, after some deliberation, she went ahead and choose the Nikon N75 camera body. It has many of the same features as the D100, except in a film format. I think that this will be a great addition to the equipment that we already have. I can not wait until we have our first roll of film developed, it will be strange shooting good old fashion film once again, but I am sure that I will do fine, I just have to remember not to take as many pictures as I have been taking with the D100.
