46 days until “D” day (give or take of course)! With everyone’s help, the nursery has finally transitioned from a guest room/storage area to a nursery! There are still some areas of the walls that need a little TLC, and the closet needs emptied, but the furniture is in and the room is mostly decorated. Once we figure out a name (most likely will be in the hospital for those of you wondering…) I’d like to hang his name in wooden letters on the wall. Both Nika and Little One have already enjoyed a nap on the monkey rug, haha.

54 days to go (plus or minus, hopefully more minus than plus!), and we’ve finally got the nursery painted and the first part of the border in place. We wanted to make sure it stayed put before we went and did the rest of the room, especially the 15 ft. wall where any border issues will be very noticable. We might still need to paint the furniture, as it does have green accents - but the green might not be a pretty shade in comparison. The closet/laundry chute area could use another coat of paint, and we still need to lay the carpet back in that area, but we are almost there! Next month we should be done… but then it’s time to fill it with STUFF :-)

Took some new pictures of our animals the other day. Got some cute ones of Little One with that “who, me? I’m not doing anything….” look in her eyes. Nika couldn’t care less whether I took her picture or not. And Jayna and Little One have discovered my faucet and that it’s easy to drink out of when it’s left on at a trickle… Ever since the day they were both miserable at the vet, their personal space has decreased and they were actually drinking out of the faucet together! You can even see both of their tongues ;-)

We have approximately 153 days (who’s counting?!) to ready ourselves for a precious new family member, so today Matt and his dad started making the necessary changes. We are converting one of the 2 closets in the largest bedroom into a laundry chute/conduit from attic to basement/doorway through to the master bedroom for easy baby-in-crib access! We will hopefully have the before/after pictures as well as a few during construction pictures for your viewing pleasure… I am seeing this just as you are, since I am on a business trip this week! I leave for a week and work gets done? Hmmm… makes one wonder why I don’t step out for a spa weekend or something more often ;-)

Started back in September and not quite finished until Christmas, we tackled the Guest Bathroom making minor changes and personalizing the room. Starting with “carpenter cream” walls, I painted the upper 3/4 in a soothing minty green color. Matt worked hard figuring out how to install the wainscoting around the window, under the light switches, and behind the sink’s plumbing fixtures. After wainscoting was up, we finished off the edges with chair railing, and I painted the railing, door, and window frame in a high gloss snowy white. I finally found a brushed nickel finished light that I liked, for only $25 at Home Depot! The window curtain has a crackle texture, a Wal-Mart special, and the shower curtain I had from my apartment in Christiansburg. I found the flower arrangement in a box in the basement one day, the towels were on sale at Sears (I carry the paint squares with me for such occasions), and the hand towel rack was on sale at Bed, Bath & Beyond for no reason I could see! Matt also worked hard figuring out how to install the mirror around the chair railing, and I think he did a marvelous job :-)
