Google

I just do not know what I would do without google, I would not have anything to do at work. To commemorate the anniversary the landing of man on the moon, they have a new site, moon.google.com. This site allows you to see a maps.google.com type map of the moon marking the various landing sites on the moon. They just need to integrate this with their 3d earth viewing software.

Cindy also found a link to a site that talks about creating your own movie of the google earth software. The instructions can be found here.

I can not wait to find more google fun stuff. I even have my own custom map for the wedding details, found here

The site is Gizoogle.com, and it is a better version of the old snoop dog translator that has been around on the web for a while… It will allow you to google for sites, and then run them through the translator. For instance the first paragraph on my opening page is:

My name is Matthew Learn, and this is my website. I have put information about my hobbies (photography and photographic equipment), my family, and my up coming wedding to my fiancee. My fiancee (Cindy) and I have been adding entries about what is going on in our lives (usually each event is related to a set of pictures). So look around there is a little bit of everything here.

And here is the translated version:

My nizzy is Matthew Learn, n this is mah website . I thought i told ya, nigga I’m a soldier. I have put 411 `bout mah hobbies ( photography n photogrizzle equipment ), mah family , n mah up com’n wedd’n ta mah fiancee. My fiancee (Cindy) n I hizzy been blingin’ entries `bout what is going on in our lives (usually each event is related ta a set of pictures). So look around there is a shawty bit of trippin’ hizzy.

This is just one of those other fun sites to play around on. I am guessing that they are actually working with google to use their search and translations services with a custom translation dictionary. To make tihngs more intersting, they also have an image section where you can see some great little images, like a regular bicycle with spinning rims.

Enjoy playing…

I found a new site to play aorund on, Google Sightseeing. I was reading a blog (Here) that had this great link in the comments section. I have not gotten a chance to play around on the new site, but it is just an example of some great Google related sites…

Google Earth ProgramI am sure that a lot of you have seen the Google maps project, which allows you to not only see regular maps, but it also allows you to switch to Satellite view. To boot, the interface is just great! Google had this product to release because they bought a software company that offered keyhole satellite data. The company also had a standalone viewer for seeing these images, but Google decided to continue charging for that software, until yesterday. On Tuesday, Google officially released the software free to the public. You can find more information at the Google Earth project.

Let me take a moment and comment about how much Google has done for the Internet. I believe that they have revolutionized so many different parts of the internet, starting with the search engine. But they did not stop there, they are constantly working on products to better help the Internet surfing world, some of the ones under development can be found on the Google Labs site. They just have done soo much for the Internet and I commend them for trying to make as much of this information free as possible.
