Started back in September and not quite finished until Christmas, we tackled the Guest Bathroom making minor changes and personalizing the room. Starting with “carpenter cream” walls, I painted the upper 3/4 in a soothing minty green color. Matt worked hard figuring out how to install the wainscoting around the window, under the light switches, and behind the sink’s plumbing fixtures. After wainscoting was up, we finished off the edges with chair railing, and I painted the railing, door, and window frame in a high gloss snowy white. I finally found a brushed nickel finished light that I liked, for only $25 at Home Depot! The window curtain has a crackle texture, a Wal-Mart special, and the shower curtain I had from my apartment in Christiansburg. I found the flower arrangement in a box in the basement one day, the towels were on sale at Sears (I carry the paint squares with me for such occasions), and the hand towel rack was on sale at Bed, Bath & Beyond for no reason I could see! Matt also worked hard figuring out how to install the mirror around the chair railing, and I think he did a marvelous job ![]()

It has been over three years since Alex joined our family, and he just celebrated his 5th birthday December 3rd (party was 2nd though). He had a bunch of friends attend the festivities at the local “KMC” gym. They stretched, tumbled, jumped, swung, balanced, and flew through the party. The fun part is, all the gymnastics occured BEFORE the cake! The theme was “Outer Space” so the festivities were complete with alien balloons, martians on the silvery cupcakes with rockets in the middle, and lots of outer-spacey crafts.

Due on July 13, 2008 (but most likely “around then”) is our first child! For now, we will just say “Baby Learn” but will update with boy or girl when we find out… usually around 5 months along. So far Mommy is doing really well, managing to keep everything down she eats and is only a little tired here and there. Naps around 8:30pm suit well, one right after lunch would be nice but is not considered good manners at work! We told most of the family on Thanksgiving, and will be telling more through Christmas cards. My work still doesn’t know yet, mainly because a lot of the team members are on travel until the week before Christmas (I plan to share the news at the Christmas luncheon). Check back in a couple of months for more pictures!
